French or Flemish, the hilt elaborately chiseled and pierced overall in neoclassical motifs, the guard and ecusson with busts of the caesars, the pommel with panels of silver inlay. The grip retains its original complex brass and copper wrap. The straight, double-edged blade of exceptional quality, with deep central fullers for its first third, embellished with intricate geometrical piercing and chiseling representing a set of rosary beads. 17th century. Minor wear. Overall length 98.5cm./ 38 ? inches. Condition II
