Description
Of characteristic form, the intricately-carved ebony grip with applied profiled gilt plaques and a red stone set in the pommel. The silver forte intricately engraved en suite, with a lengthy embossed and chased panel extending well past the forte, the heavy, single-edged blade with radiused tip. In its rare, carved wooden scabbard with long silver locket inscribed in Sinhala and elaborately-embellished stylus intact. Early 19th century. Well worn overall. Overall length 32cm./ 12 5/8 inches. Condition III
