Description
With broad, shallow steel guard, the guard with recurved terminals and robust knucklebow, the flattened spherical pommel with stepped base. Wooden grip with raveled wire wrap. The long, straight, double-edged blade with short, deep fuller to either side struck with a cross and marked FRANCISCO RUIZ and EN TOLEDO and transitioning to a diamond cross-section, originally blued, now brown. Latter 17th century. Hilt age darkened. Overall length 102.6cm./ 40 3/8 inches. Condition III
