The copper tsuba set with well-modeled and gilded wisemen, copper fuchi and kashira. Tuka with replaced black ito. A finely wrought, elegant blade in very good polish with with active gunome temperline showing nioi, signed CHIKUGO KURUME JU ONIZUKA YOSHIKUNI (Yoshikuni produced blades between 1865-1868,) and on the reverse, A DAY IN AUGUST 1868. Dated 1868. In its black-lacquered saya with brass tip. Dated 1868. Minor chips to edge, seppa modern. Overall length 95.9cm./ 37 ? inches. Nagase 63.4cm./ 24 15/16 inches. Condition III
