Description
A fine large example of a rare type, the elephant grips with pronounced ears, the silver ferrule and tangband engraved and nielloed. The straight, single-edged blade well-forged and struck with marks. The silver scabbard elaborately profiled, chiseled, engraved and nielloed overall in Sebian floral and vine motifs, and dated 1797 on the reverse. Minor wear, small delamination to one side of blade. Overall length 60.5cm. Condition II
