Description
A rare example, mounted entirely in hallmarked silver. Of characteristic hussar form, the stirrup hilt with engraved silver mounts with characteristic rectangular langets and leather-covered wooden grip with silver bosses and lanyard apertures. The wooden scabbard covered in black leather scabbard and embellished with superbly embossed and engraved mounts en suite with the hilt, and struck with two silver marks, the first IR and the second 1.3.1791 surround a four-spoked wheel. The robust blade broad and hollowground with raised, chamfered cutting edge and radiused cutting tip. Dated 1791. Areas of minor pitting to blade. Overall length 96cm. Condition II
