Description
Qajar Dynasty, comprised of an embellished helmet, shield, and armguard, chiseled with panels of chiseled foliage alternating with bands of gold inlaid vinework. The helmet of characteristic hemispherical form with elongated top spike, nasal bar and plume tubes, embellished with intertwining vinework, with a camail of butted rings. The circular steel shield elaborately chiseled en suite with the helmet and armguard, and set with four bosses and a brass rim. The bazuband raised from a single plate and chiseled overall en suite with helmet and shield. 19th century. Worn overall. Diameter of shield 48cm. Condition III
