Description
The pommel and grip wrought entirely of silvered filigree with a band of monitor lizard skin and finely-wrought steel guard. The broad, double-edged blade with short central fuller and chiseled orb, struck with maker’s marks and the date 1307 (1890 c.e.) together with lengthy Arabic inscriptions and a snake and crescent moon, and retaining its sharp edges. In its stamped leather scabbard with sling. Dated 1890. Minor wear. Overall length 110cm. Condition III
