Description
With spherical steel pommel and stepped, leather-covered wooden grip, the massive steel guard recurved with profiled ecusson and chiseled, brass-capped bud terminals. The massive blade with short, rectangular forte transitioning to a flattened lenticular section and tapering gradually toward the tip, cut with three grooves, with a further single groove at the center on each side, and struck with crescent moon maker’s marks. Mid-16th century. Minor wear overall. Overall length 108.8cm. Condition III
