Description
Qajar Dynasty, the characteristic deep skull wrought of fine, faintly visible Persian wootz, and superbly chiseled over its entire surface with wrenched bands of flowering vines terminating in Timurid trefoils, the lower with portraits of Persian heroes and beasts, bordered in gold. The brow embellished with intricate cartouches containing panels of Qur’anic verses alternating with predators hunting prey, likewise with extensive gold borders, with nasal guard held by a set screw, plume holders and top spike chiseled and embellished with gold en suite. The lengthy camail wrought of iron and brass rings, with four pointed terminals. Beginning of the 19th century. Minor wear. Height 67.5cm. Condition II
