Description
Of excellent form, wrought in one piece with tall comb and broad, upturned brim with roped borders and darkened finish overall, engraved and gilded on each side with the Venetian symbol of the Lion of St. Mark and scrolling motifs to the comb. Retaining all 12 elaborately-embossed brass rosettes in the form of lion’s heads and traces of the original leather lining strips. Mid-16th century. Minor wear. Overall height 31cm. Condition II
