Description
A fine example of Armenian work, the grip carved of a single section of horn, the steel bosses with scalloped borders, inlaid overall with gold. The robust, double-edged blade tapering at the tip, wrought with a single offset central fuller and superbly inlaid with symmetrical vinework in gold on each side. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with iron suspension band and chape inlaid with gold vinework en suite with the blade. Mid-19th century. Overall length 52.3 cm.
