Description
The steel hilt of characteristic form, with rolled pommel and broad guard with button quillon terminals lavishly inlaid in gold overall. The robust, heirloom lightly curved blade single-edged with narrow central fuller and wrought of fine Persian black wootz, elaborately chiseled and inlaid with gold at the forte on each side, including AMAL-E ISFAHANI (Work of Isfahani) and 1122 (1709/10 c.e.) and a baduh, or magic square. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large, finely gold-inlaid steel mounts en suite with the hilt. Latter 19th century. Velvet worn. Overall length 93 cm. Condition III
