Description
Likely Maguindanao work, the elaborately-worked junggayan hilt typically carried by a datu or noble, with carved hardwood kakatua-form pommel and silver mounts with bands of okir engraving and profiling. A silver baca-baca retains the substantial blade forged with a separate ganja and showing evidence of damascus forging. In its wooden scabbard with okir -engraved mounts. First half of the 20th century. Overall length 81.8 cm, blade 71.5 cm. Condition II
