Description
Of characteristic form, the hilt composed of fibrous horn grips with rolled pommel, with engraved silver tangband and broad faceted guard. The thick, moderately curved blade single-edged and wrought of fine Persian black wootz, with inlaid gold inscriptions on either side, including the Seal of Suleiman and the date, 1211 (1796/7 c.e.) In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large, finely engraved silver mounts. Dated 1796/7. Repair to grip, velvet worn. Overall length 93 cm. Condition III
