Description
A rare example, the special weapon of the Guardias de Albarderos del Real Sello (Halberdier Guards of the Royal Seal), who protected the Governor of the Philippines from 1598-1867, and the Guardias del Capitan General (Guards of the Captain-General) until 1898. Massive and well wrought of steel, with long spike, crescent head and cusped hook, pierced overall in scrollwork with a cross and expanded socket. Mid-19th century. Light wear. Overall length 69.3 cm. Condition III
