Description
A Mughal rendering of the southern form, the steel hilt with flattened diamond-section grip with bifurcate pommel and bud finial, the knucklebow terminating in a flower, elaborately inlaid in gold flowering vinework overall. The fine blade wrought of actively-patterned black wootz, with pronounced central ridge and heavy armor-piercing tip. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Early 19th century. Overall length 36.9 cm.
