Description
The haft composed of alternating strips of light and dark wood, mounted in finely engraved and nielloed silver, with characteristic spiral strap; the owner’s name, ABBAS, inscribed on the pommel. The plaited rawhide tress with original lash intact. A small stud on the grip releases a well-forged and fullered dagger, signed in Arabic, with acute tip, concealed in the haft. Mid-19th century. Wear to tress. Length of haft 50 cm. Condition II
