Description
Likely made in the Court Workshop, Istanbul. With walrus grip, the bolsters inlaid with gold en suite with the blade, the forte deeply chiseled at either side, likewise with heavy gold inlay, developing into a narrow fuller and wrought of Persian black wootz displaying a fine and complex pattern. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with elegant silver mounts, elegantly engraved and nielloed overall. 17th century. Well worn, blade pitted, chape with minor wear-through, velvet refreshed. Overall length 26.8 cm. Condition IV
