Description
Comprising a full-sized 16th century-style parade morion (bisected) and breastplate with fauld, in finely-cast iron with exceptionally well-detailed bands decorated in Mannerist motifs including gods, birds, stands of arms and armorial bearings amongst meandering vinework. The brim of the helmet signed by the maker in Gothic letters, CARL SCHURFF ZU SCHENMOR, OBRISTER, LTD. German or Austrian, c. 1880. Areas of age darkening, minor repaired crack to helmet brim and plumeholder. Overall length of breastplate 46 cm. Condition IV
