The grip of typical form, carved of a dark wood with broad pommel. A seldom-encountered profiled brass reinforce at the forte retains the substantially earlier heirloom Arab blade, straight and double-edged, wrought flat on one side, with a slight central ridge to the other and inscribed in Arabic, THERE IS NO HERO BUT ‘ALI AND NO SWORD BUT ZULFAQAR and BRINGER OF GOOD TIDINGS, O MUHAMMAD! together with the name, THAHKIR AL FURNAHI.
