Description
An elaborate example with brass mounts in rococo style worked in relief, with antler grips. The broad, straight blade with substantial back edge etched in gilded panels at the right forte, G.H. KOHL, SCHWERDTFEGER and at the left forte, IN STUTTGART together with stands of arms and a wild boar, with remains of bluing and gilding. In its leather scabbard with heavily gilded brass mounts en suite with the hilt, the locket struck, KOHL STUTTGART. The antler-gripped by-knife a working-life replacement. Late 18th-early 19th century. Overall length 71cm.
