Description
With ebony grips and decorated, silvered mounts. The blade etched GENERAL JOSE DE SAN MARTIN. First half of the 20th century. Light wear. Jose de San Martin (1778-1850) was a noted Argentine leader in the struggle for South American independence. Swords of this type, which duplicate the Ottoman saber he carried in battle, were presented to boys who showed military promise. Overall length 59.4cm. Condition II
