Description
A large example mounted entirely in embossed and engraved silver in flowering vine motifs from the Trabzon region, with horn grip to the reverse, the broad blade wrought with a single fuller and inlaid in gold and silver vinework interspersed with an Ottoman inscription, WORK OF TESBI IBN KANEH, OWNER ALI, and tapering continuously to the tip. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large embossed and engraved silver mounts en suite with the hilt. First half of the 19th century. Light wear. Overall length 40.5cm. Condition II
