Description
Likely German, the transitional steel hilt with urn-shaped pommel and recurved knucklebow and quillon, supported by a pair of broad clamshell guards, the grip retains its twisted wire wrap and turkshead knots. The long, straight, single-edged saber blade wrought with a narrow fuller along the spine and broad cutting tip. Mid-17th century. Minor wear. Showing Ottoman influence in the form of the blade. Overall length 94.5cm. Condition III
