Description
The work of a master, the horn grips set in mounts of finely engraved and nielloed silver with parcel gilding and filigree. The handwrought, straight, double-edged blade with paired fullers and maker’s mark to the obverse fort. The velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large, elaborately engraved, nielloed, gilded and filigreed mounts en suite with the hilt; the locket reverse inscribed, 1319 (1900/1 c.e.) WORK OF MUSAN IBN HAJI HASSAN. Latter 19th century. Blade scuffed, velvet worn. Overall length 50.2cm. Condition II
