Description
Characteristic of Tanjore work, the distinctive guard forged with high central ridge fretted borders, with monster’s head finial, the rails with profiled and beaded terminals. The reinforces en suite, with profiled edges and gold-inlaid borders throughout, retaining the broad, well-wrought, multifullered blade with thickened armor-piercing tip. Retains its velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Beginning of the 17th century. Worn overall. Overall length 49.5cm. Condition III
