Description
Comprised of an embellished helmet and shield, etched with scenes from Persian mythology. The helmet of characteristic hemispherical form with elongated top spike, nasal bar and plume tubes, embellished with intertwining vinework and Persian nobles and heroes at court, with a camail of butted rings. The circular steel shield elaborately etched en suite with the helmet and set with four bosses. 19th-20th c. Losses to mail. Diameter of shield 48cm. Condition II
