Description
Rarely encountered, comprising one front and one side plate, wrought of actively-patterned wootz steel and decorated en suite with chiseled palmette-form cartouches enclosing sinuous vines and religious inscriptions calling upon Allah for assistance, the borders inlaid with flowering vinework in gold. Each retaining it profiled, gold-inlaid connecting buckles. 17th c. Worn, one buckle lacking. Overall height of the largest 28.2cm. Condition III
