Description
The spherical steel pommel with the head of Bacchus amongst grapevines well-chiseled in relief, the octagonal wooden grip with original complex twisted iron wire wrap with turksheads intact. The guard chiseled in relief en suite, with lions heads on the ecussons, and foliate work on the quillons, terminating in monsters heads. The exceptionally broad blade tapering continuously to the acutely-pointed tip, with high central ridge to the obverse and elegant vinework engraved at the forte. Second half of the 15th c. Minor wear. Overall length 50cm. Condition III
