Description
Malaita Peoples, of a dense red-brown wood, expanding continuously to the end, and carved as a primitive head on each side with defined brow and nose, above which are finely incised geometrical motifs retaining much of their original lime inlay. The distal end tapers continuously from a flange likewise carved and inlaid with lime. Early 20th c.
Minor wear. Overall length 85cm. Condition III
