Description
The characteristic gauntlet-type hilt wrought of steel, well embossed and finely chiseled overall with tigers hunting with continuous vinework borders and a small panel of bubris, or tiger stripes. The lengthy reinforce likewise chiseled and gold-inlaid. The long, straight, flexible blade of lenticular section wrought of fine, actively-grained black wootz, and retains much original edge. Early 19th century. Minor wear, small bends to tip of blade. Overall length 124.5cm. Condition II
