Description
The fine Delhi-style steel lavishly inlaid in intricate flowering vinework motifs in silver, in high relief with intricately-engraved details. The massive moderately-curved Persian blade likely designed for use in fighting men in armor, and forged of fine black wootz damascus steel with intermittent steps and hardened edge with worn cartouche at the right forte and old collection stamp at the left. In its silk brocade and velvet-covered wooden scabbard with gilt chape. 18th century. Minor wear, pommel slightly loose. Overall length 96cm/ 37 51/64 inches. Condition II
