The characteristic Mughal hilt wrought with disk pommel and recurved knucklebow terminating in a monster head, with knobbed quillons and inlaid with geometrical silver panels overall. The massive Persian heirloom blade finely wrought of Persian black wootz with chiseled and inlaid inscription, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET (ABBAS, SERVANT OF THE RULER OF THE WORLD—Shah Abbas I ruled the Persian Empire from 1588-1629.) In its velvet-covered scabbard with steel mounts. 17th-18th century. Hilt, mounts and velvet well worn overall. Overall length 96.3cm./ 37 29/32 inches. Condition III
