Description
Rarely encountered in original condition, the Hindu baskethilt heavily gilded overall, with original velvet grip and liner. The characteristic reinforce with pierced and trefoiled edge likewise retains its heavy gilding. The straight blade with slight forward-curved to the back edge wrought of superior black wootz steel, with original polished chamfered edges. In its original velvet-covered wooden scabbard with gilded chape intact. 18th century. Very slight wear to gilding and velvet. Overall length 90.5cm./ 35 5/8 inches. Condition II
