Description
Quality handwrought work in the style of a mid-16th century Spanish parade armor. The close helmet well-wrought, with crested skull and pivoting visor and bevor. The en suite gorget and breastplate with roped borders. The backplate en suite, connecting to the breastplate with straps. With complete arm defenses, with large pauldrons and upper canons terminating in rolled and roped borders, the inner arms protected by winged couters, the lower canons en suite with rolled edges. The well-articulated gauntlets composed of numerous plates in addition to the fingers and thumbs. The fauld retains the five-lame tassets with straps and buckles. The cuisses with rolled and roped edges, each knee cop with large wings. The finely formed greaves with sprung catches, the multiple-lame sabatons with expanded toe. The whole very finely etched with broad borders containing flowering vinework overall. With its massive broadsword with gilt hilt and blade etched en suite with the armor. Mid-20th century. Minor wear, areas of cleaned rust, some straps replaced. Overall height 193.5cm./ 76 3/16 inches. Condition III. Includes custom wooden stand.
