Description
One of very few English-made helmets in the continental style, highly characteristic of the English Civil War. The two-piece skull with rolled comb, with separately-applied peak and captured, adjustable nasal retained by a large set-screw, large ear guards and a solid neckguard embossed with four “lames, ” all with rolled borders. Original finish overall. Mid- 17th century. Finish abraded and worn. Ear guard leathers likely refreshed. Overall height 37cm./ 14 9/16 inches. Condition III
