Description
A very rare item worn throughout the Ottoman Empire, particularly in the Balkans and Greece. Made of layers of leather laced tightly together, each with scalloped edge, through which the yataghan, dagger and pistols, together with other weapons and accoutrements, were slipped. Embellished with plaitwork, appliques and brass studs. Retains its belt and brass buckle. Early 19th century. Overall length 125cm/ 49 ¼ inches.. Condition III
