Description
The pommel and grip wrought in one piece of silver, with characteristic domed pommel, pierced and engraved throughout with latticework to one side and an open panel to the other with green silk velvet visible beneath it. The well-wrought steel guard with expanded quillon terminals. The long, double-edged heirloom blade of lenticular section with etched celestial motifs at the forte on either side, appears to be 17th century German work. Blade with areas of pitting, etching well worn. Mid-late 19th century. Overall length 94cm/ 37 inches. Condition III
