Description
A massive example. The grip of characteristic form, carved of a single large section of shirmani. The massive, handwrought blade with pronounced central ridge showing well-contrasted wootz forging, with elaborately-inlaid gold panels at either side of the forte composed of Ottoman vinework. In its finely embossed and engraved silver scabbard decorated in Ottoman motifs overall with monster head finial. First half of the 18th century. Wear to gold, old stable crack to grip. Overall length 51.8cm/ 20 ½ inches. Condition III
