Description
Composed of an embellished helmet and shield, decorated with scenes from Persian mythology and bands of calligraphy in alternating cartouches in geometrical arrangements. The helmet of characteristic hemispherical form with top spike, adjustable nasal bar and plume tubes, and camail terminating in points. The circular steel shield elaborately etched en suite with the helmet and dominated by a demon head at the center, and set with four bosses and a brass rim. 19th century. Minor losses to mail. Diameter of shield 54cm/ 21 ¼ inches. Condition III STAND NOT INCLUDED
