Description
Carved of a section of two-tined buckhorn, and incised overall in geometrical motifs, with silver mounts and turned spout. Inscribed D GRANT 1714 by the owner on the obverse, and later incised AW on the reverse over an existing circular motif. The silver cap affixed with nails and engraved at a later date, ANDRE WALKER and AW (?) as well as 70 (ostensibly the year 1770.) Dated 1714. Antique Scottish arms and accessories of any type dated prior to the Culloden Uprising are quite rare. Minor wear, cap with stable crack. Spout possibly a period replacement. Overall height 13.8cm/ 5 ½ inches. Condition II
