Description
With black tsuka ito and shakudo fuchi and kashira in floral motifs elegantly inlaid with gold, the iron sukashi tsuba with clover leaf, the seppa with substantial remains of gilding. Black lacquered saya with textured surface. Signed kogatana in place, the copper kozuka with gilt birds in flight and gilded catscratch habaki. Fine blade with two hole tang, of hira zukuri form with active temperline and clear turnback with active grain, signed BIZEN NO KUNI JU NORIMUNE. 18th century.Light wear, blade with minor scratches, lacquer with losses, tsuka ito fraying. Overall length 53cm/20 7/8 inches Nagasa 29.6cm/ 11 1/8 inches. Condition II
