French work, the gilded hilt with boat-type guard embellished overall in rococo motifs. The fine blade fullered with narrow fullers at the rectangular forte and inlaid in brass, AU PLUS HARDY on one side and I EN DONNE on the other, with high central ridge running to the tip. 18th century. Gilding worn, wear and areas of pitting to blade. Overall length 97.5cm/38 3/8 inches. Condition III
