Description

A form often depicted in early Indian art, finely wrought with a massive, triangular pommel with bead finial and pierced and engraved applied plates, the grip characteristically short with spherical protrusion to the center and stepped terminals, the guard wide and gracefully arched, with broad central plate and long, triangular, engraved and profiled reinforces. The blade exceptionally broad, following the outline of the guard and then tapering abruptly at the forte, double-edged and wrought with a pronounced central ridge for its entire length and terminating in a thrusting tip. 17th century or earlier.
