Description
Of characteristic form, with hilt elements, comprised of guard, tangbands and pommel, of silver and finely embellished in Lucknow enamel in five colors. The grips of octagonal section, the pommel with delicately pierced toggle. The Persian blade very slightly curved and single-edged, with chiseled cartouche to the right forte enclosing the shir ve khorshid or lion and sun of Iran, and forged of superior Kara Taban brilliant black Persian wootz damascus steel in a fine and regular Ladder Pattern. Late 17th-early 18th century. Losses to enamel, isolated areas of pitting to blade. Overall length 99.7 cm, blade 86.3 cm. Condition II
