Of distinctive tapered form, handwrought of a single plate of steel with a series of five deep flutes designed to strengthen the integrity of the metal as well as deflecting blows, and flanged apertures for vision. The borders pierced for a lining and for mail sections now lacking. First half of the 16th century or later. Well worn overall. Overall length 47.2cm. Condition IV
