The long blade of characteristic form, robust and shallowly curved with pronounced central ridge and retaining its profiled steel collar. The iron guard of flattened triangular form with cylindrical quillon terminals. Retains its upper scabbard mount. 9th-10th century. Excavated. As found. Ex-Egil Haggmann Collection, N.Y. 1974. Overall length 115.2 cm/ 45 1/3". Condition V
