Description
Rarely encountered, the Persiform hilt wrought of gilded copper and engraved overall in fine flowering vinework. The robust, lightly-curved, single-edged blade with pronounced back edge with evidence of wootz construction. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard, with numerous elaborate gilded, engraved and embossed mounts en suite with the hilt. Mid-18th century. Worn, gilding rubbed. Overall length 54.4cm. Condition III
