Description
The large Indian basket hilt with long backspike designed for two-handed use, the grip with original woven wrap and padded silk liner. The massive blade well-forged of actively-patterned wootz, expanding continuously and terminating in a spatulate tip, with deeply serrated edges. Mounted to the hilt by an elaborately pierced and profiled seating process. 17th-18th century. Overall length 98.5cm. Condition III
